Building and Installing PIPS from SVN with autotools

Step-by-step instructions for compiling PIPS from SVN using autotools

The Quick Way

If you are confident, you can download get-pips4u.sh and run it

# get the script 
wget https://scm.cri.ensmp.fr/svn/nlpmake/trunk/makes/get-pips4u.sh
chmod u+x get-pips4u.sh
# display some info
./get-pips4u.sh --help

And then choose one of the two retrieving method :

# run it in user mode (fetch tar.gz)
./get-pips4u.sh
or
# run it in developer mode (use svn)
./get-pips4u.sh --devel

 

You may run into an error, in that case see the error message, install missing dependencies and run again !

 

Step by Step Install

This section details the behavior of the get-pips4u.sh script so that the user understands what is going on

It will help if you are familiar with autoconf and automake. If not, take a deep breath and follow the source !
